I bought this door and collars back in September of 2025. I've had to charge the collar battery, of course, but beyond that, my dogs have put this door to the test. I'm not even sure Hi Tech Pet designed it for this kind of test.
I have 2 dogs, a black lab mix and a red Aussie, so of course we had to by the large for our lab. Installing it myself was rather simple and straight forward.
These dogs take off out the door to chase squirrels, barely missing the door as it opens like an oversized load under a bridge. They often clip the door and a time or 2 it doesn't as fast as they want so they end up hitting it. The door withstood the impact of a charging lab with st adfast stubbornness. Beyond that, these dogs can't decide where they want to be. Today is toward the end of April 2026, only 6 months after install, and this door now has a Lifetime Opening count of 62,250. Not 6,200, but SIXTY-TWO THOUSAND. Now, I don't know if the company really knew my dogs when they decided on their lifetime warranty but this door is going to have more milage than a Toyota Corolla. Either way, this door is still going strong holding through its paces. If the Company wishes to perform a reverse engineering study on this door, the just need to let me know and I'm sure we can work something out.

When it works it is great, but randomly stops working. We have changed batteries in the collars several times, but no joy. Turned the sensor settings to maximum, did not help. Currently exploring replacing sensors and circuit board, which is an added cost to an already expensive product.
We constantly worry our pups are going to be trapped inside or outside, really defeats the purpose of purchasing such an expensive product.
