Start out by saying this is a great idea but could be better. I admit we bought a used one because we were not sure if it would work for our need and could not justify the cost of a new one. It worked great to start with but then the little quirks started. Their Transmitters are something that needs a lot of improvements. The panel that the cheap little collar goes through brakes and we have lost one in our backyard never to be found so we bought a new one but there is another problem...the transmitter moves around the dogs neck. You would think with the weight of them they would gravitate towards the bottom but they do not and somehow move to a position to where the sensor does not pick it up. I finally fixed that issue for the most part by finding a 3D printer program that made a case to put the transmitter in and it fits on their 1" wide collar so now I just have the one collar and it stays in a position where it gets picked up by the sensor on the door. Now the Door itself. It worked fine for a bit after we installed it but then we started to have problems like the door would not go up, the door would go up but not down, the door would go up and down on its own with no dogs around. I have replaced the sensor wiring harness, the motor and the circuit board basically rebuilt the whole thing inside to the point I did not save any money by buying used. I have come to the conclusion this door is not made to handle the summer heat in Phoenix. My door faces the west so it gets the evening sun beating on it and that seems to be the time the door just wants to go up and down on its own. When I replaced the motor and circuit board I tried to insulate it but it did not seem to work so I need to think of something else. But I have a new issue now, as I sit and type this at 3:00 in the morning in Dec the door has decided to just go up and down on it own with not dogs around as they are in the bedroom asleep where I should be but I heard the door going up & down so I will to go turn it off. I think it might be a problem where the power cord plugs in but not sure. Which brought me to their website again wondering if I should just drop 5 bills on a new door but I am just not sure it would fix all of the issues. Like I said at the beginning Great Idea but does seem to have a lot of room for improvement. There is a dog door out there that works off the dog chip implant which seems like a great idea but it is way more expensive and I am sitting here complaining about dropping 5 bills on a new one of these. Just not sure which direction to go here. I do like it better then a regular flap dog door but really wish this was more reliable.

I bought my PX-2 patio unit in 2013 and it was an absolute game changer. I have a Border Collie that refused to be contained in the rear yard. She could scale a 7' fence to wait in the front yard for me to come home from work. Allowing her to be inside was my last hope to keep her safe, and it worked.
And it continued to work... flawlessly, until last month. The PX-2's draw cable snapped after 12 years of service. I was happy to find out High Tech Pet (HTP) offered replacement parts and rushed to order the cable. HTP's customer service was great and even got the order out to me a day earlier than expected. Only issue was I got the wrong part... I was mortified, I couldn't wait another 3 days.
Cali (formerly the escape artist) is now 17.5 years old and mostly blind. She uses the sound of the motor to guide her to the door and to know when to exit. Those few days without it were grueling with whimpers of a poor old lost dog that needed help to get outside and back.
I contacted customer service and made arraignments to drive up to Ventura. It was a 3hr trek... but you do what you must for your family & fur kids. Matt and Cassie were great and set everything up for me. It was a long drive, but I couldn't have done it without their help.
Bottom line: Their product is solid and goes the distance; their staff is exceptional and goes the extra mile.
