why must i buy a new transmitter when all i need is a new collar?

we have "original" cat collars. i was very disappointed to discover you can not cut excess length off the collars ( which are more dog size than cat). we have super glued the ends to keep the collars from unraveling so i was excited to learn you were now selling new cat collars. please change your design so the transmitters can be removed from a frayed collar and placed on a new one. i should not have to buy a transmitter every time i need a collar.
