This is a great dog door and very well built. Materials used are very high quality. My previous dog door was a cheaper flap style, and over time the flap would would warp from the weather, and ultimately my new dog would rip the flap off. Tired of replacing flaps, I went on the search for a new dog door and out of the many that I researched, I chose this one. What I love about this door is how the door flap itself is constructed. The individual interlocking sections of the flap are made of a very durable material, yet how the sections are connected, allow the door to be flexible (think tank tread), so there's no way for a dog to stick their head out the dog door - attempt to pull their head back in, and get pinched like some of the "saloon-door" style doors with hard panels could. I've had this door for over a month now and my dog has not been able to chew this flap, and the flap securely closes via the magnets every time, keeping the weather out.

I really balked at paying $400 for a doggie door. Got it November 2019, and now I know it was a bargain. Never seen anything like it. The way this magnetic door works has to be seen to be understood. Even in the coldest part of the winter here in the Ozark mountains, or the hottest part of the summer, I can feel almost no temperature differential. We have 6 dogs currently, all rescues. Two are blind and deaf, one blind only. The 3 non-handicapped dogs figured it out in a couple of weeks max, one of the deaf/blind ones figured it out in a couple of months. The other 2 use it sporadically, but that is due to other issues they have. Not onlyy does it work incredibly well, but it really look nice. We have the extra large wall mount model and it seems as if it is part of the original house. Blends in perfectly. We had a local handyman install it due to some tricky issues with the way our exterior walls are designed. Besides, I am not a carpenter. If you are handy with this stuff, you can probably do it yourself. I paid my guy $100 to install it. I cannot recommend this door highly enough. My only question is if it will ever wear out or if the magnets at some point will finally quit working. So far the answer to both is NO!

Awesome Pet Door,

Bought this to replace another brands extreme weather pet door. I could never get it to stay closed with South Texas winds. The HiTecPet door is awesome! It stays closed with 35mph gusts. The old door would just flap in the wind. The door is a little heavier, so our beagles took a couple of trips to get used to it. If I had to say anything bad about the door, it would be that my 16 year old Shitzu really doesn't care for the new door. Installation was easy, as I ordered a size that was slightly larger than my old door. Best part is my air conditioner doesn't have to play catch-up with the outside air anymore.
