I notice the motor turning inside my pet door but the door was not moving

I notice the motor turning inside my pet door but the door was not moving. My dogs have used the heck out of this door for years with zero problems. I pull the door off the wall and opened it up and there it was a broken cable. I ordered a new cable plus a new motor since I had it apart may as well change that too. Super easy to change, now it works fine again.

Clarification

Thanks for the response. I only had to replace the dual sensor cable once, and that was my lack of attention when I was replacing the lift cable. It's the lift cable that I have to replace often.

Good, but I wish there was Something Better

I've had the large door installed since 2021, in southern Wisconsin. It is on my west wall. During extreme cold in winter, it stops working. I've tried putting a space heater in front of it inside, using silicone spray in the guides. Out of ideas.

But my biggest complaint is the cables. I end up having to replace them at least once per year. It's not difficult, but I've now spent close to as much for replacement cables as for the door. I called to ask what size the wire is so that I can just buy a spool and crimp ends, but they can't tell me.

A cool upgrade would be to get rid of the battery-operated transmitter and go with an RF proximity reader such as those used in building access control. HID has some readers with really good range.

Regarding the dual sensor cable, it is currently the most frequently replaced part we provide. We are actively working on improving its durability so it can better withstand wear and tear. In the meantime, please remember that all of our products come with a full one-year warranty. If your dual sensor cable fails within that period, we will gladly send you a replacement.

As for performance in extreme cold, we’ve made advancements with our newer roll-up door, which features a motor-driven closure system. So far, it has shown improved reliability in low temperatures compared to the Power Pet Door. excellent process

excellent process. However the new cable seemed to have an effect on the motor and it started working inconsistently. We bought a completely new door and it is working today.
The old door needed to have the cable, control board and door replaced......it was only three years old.

I'm sorry there was difficulty with the part replacement/ I do see that you were issued a $100 refund from our Limited Lifetime Warranty policy, so I hope that helped make the decision to buy a new door less difficult.
